Visakhapatnam: In an attempt to attract investments after an encouraging response at World Economic Forum, Davos, the Andhra Pradesh government will organise a global investors' summit here on February 23 next year.

With AP retaining its top position in Ease of Doing Business, the government wants to showcase the investment potential in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada and other places by bringing investors from all over the world to the City of Destiny.

No decision has yet been taken on the venue. During erstwhile, Telugu Desam regime, CII Partnership summits used to be held at APIIC Harbour Park grounds overlooking the sea. However, after the allotment of the land to Abu Dhabi-based LuLu Group for construction of a multiplex and international convention centre, no conference was hosted there. Moreover, the YSRCP government cancelled the land allotment and subsequently decided to sell off the land through e-auction.

The decision to sell off the land is sub-judice. After a change in government, a CEO's conclave was organised at Vijayawada on a smaller scale. The global meet planned in Visakhapatnam assumes importance, as the government has decided to develop the city as the executive capital and the general elections, are due in 2024.
